As part of its retail revamp, the telco is integrating interactive digital signage company Eyefactive software into a range of touch screens, interactive tables and tablets in stores.
For the first time, Three will not only provide connectivity through its network and devices, but also provide its store visitors with expert advice and access to more than 100 products. This is one of the largest touchscreen deployments of its kind, with over 500 interactive touchscreen devices in total.
Three's own research shows that consumers want their personal experience to be complemented by online services. As a result, the company's stores will be transformed into "centers of excellence" combining online shopping with professional retail assistance. Each store will have one or two touch tables, six touch tablets and two or three non-interactive wall displays, as well as new display cases. Staff will be able to help shoppers find and select products using touch screen devices and interactive software to connect to Three.
The main application for the touch screen software solution is a virtual retail consultant connected to the Three. The app offers interactive guides for easy navigation through product categories and has additional multi-channel checkout features such as self-checkout via mobile phone using a QR code or sending information to the customer's email address.
The touch screen watch software interface allows the user to interact in all four aspects. In addition, it allows people to consult with customers face-to-face by opening multiple applications and widgets at the same time from the main menu application. They feature built-in eyefactive touch screen object recognition technology that recognizes products placed on the screen surface. In future developments, the technology will be used to compare smartphones and their respective mobile network contracts.
The cloud-based architecture of the Eyefactive touch screen application platform constantly updates the content and software on the devices in the store. In a future update, Three will be able to collect touch data from all screens - comparable to e-commerce click data - which will help improve ROI and conversions.
Last year, 13 of Ireland's 60 stores were converted into concept stores. The program is expected to be completed in 2023.
